Benti-Merrung (Water-Rumble)

A place that we can found in the Reg. Maros, South of Sulawesi, eastern Indonesia. This place is called "Bantimurung", it's name is derived from appointment of the chieftain in local area on 1990, the chieftain's name is Karaeng Simbang. In that period, initially the chieftain wants to accelerated the mobility system and transportation. He began to build and hold a road construction. However when the road construction began, the labors hear a roar but did'nt know where its came from, this problem was reported to Karaeng Simbang. After that, Karaeng Simbang went straight to check the location. After check it, that sound is flood of water that rumble from the top of mountain. Karaeng Simbang amazed by the view in there. And then, he called the place "Bentimurrung", that means "Benti" is water and "Merrung" is rumble. Finally until now, the water was kept flowing beautiful from the top of mountain and be the main atraction from this place. 

The government of Reg. Maros make this place become a tourist place. Until now Bantimurung become a good choice for a family holiday and be a beautiful spot for a photographers, supported by the distance that only about 45 miles from the capital city of South Sulawesi, Makassar.

There are another touring object in Bantimurung, that is two cave called "Goa Mimpi" and "Goa Batu". Goa Mimpi is one of the favourite places by visitors because in that cave there are beautiful stalactites that sprinkled with crystals. Not only cave, the tropical conditions that lush made this place become a good habitat for any species of butterfly. There are hundreds species of butterfly that lives in this place. Some of them is a typical species that hard to find in other region.
